HedgeWeekly Stockwatch: Airbnb jumps on guidance as Atlassian falls

Airbnb, Atlassian, Nvidia and Micron are in focus after results and Thursday's chip rout.

    HedgeWeekly Markets Desk ·

ABNB, Airbnb: Third-quarter revenue rose 19% to $4.87 billion against $4.75 billion expected, and EPS of $3.16 beat $2.85. It raised full-year growth guidance to the high teens. Bull case: Fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $3.22-$3.28 billion tops the $3.16 billion estimate, and the board added $12 billion of buybacks. Bear case: Airbnb expects fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA margin to dip slightly, partly on the timing of marketing spend.

TEAM, Atlassian: First-quarter revenue rose 24% to $1.77 billion, but full-year guidance points to about 13.75% revenue growth, with Data Center revenue shrinking about 16%. Bull case: Cloud revenue grew 31% to $1.30 billion, and Atlassian guides about 26% cloud growth for the year. Bear case: Second-quarter revenue guidance of $1.825-$1.835 billion implies slower growth, and GAAP operating margin is guided at only about 5%.

NVDA, Nvidia: Nvidia had its biggest one-day fall since January 2025 on Thursday as the chip index lost about 12%, and it is leading an early rebound. Bull case: Jefferies' Jane Gibbons called the sell-off "reactionary, not a fundamental reset", Reuters reported. Bear case: Reuters cited worries about tighter AI rules under a Democratic Congress and slower data-centre spending.

MU, Micron: The memory maker fell 17% on Thursday, among the worst hit in the chip rout. Micron, AMD, Intel and Broadcom rose 5% to 8.3% before the bell. Bull case: AMD chief Lisa Su said on Thursday that markets can be short-sighted and that she still sees strong AI demand. Bear case: Tickmill called the move a "violent liquidation" in chips and described the rebound as tactical relief, not a trend change.
